Leave free different pieces of your hairdo for special effect. For instance, you can leave half an inch of a section of hair around the hairline free from the hair that you put up into a ponytail. Then take another half inch of a section of the free hair and cross it around like a basket-weave on top of the hairstyle. Pin this into place and you will have a completely unique look with very minimal effort.
Make use of simple accessories like ribbons or hair extensions for a different hair color to add effects to your hairstyle. Simply insert several ribbons small strands of hair into your hair for a beautiful splash of dramatic color. This is a great idea because you can color-coordinate this with the dress you plan on wearing and compliment the color of your hair at the same time.
Flowers are also great accessories in livening up a hairstyle, as long as you don’t go over the top. Opt for small flowers and use them sparingly. Too many flowers will simply make you look like a flower arrangement. Accessories are meant to compliment your look, not overpower it.
